Guest blog from Daniel O’Sullivan from “I do films”

Importance of memories

Recently I was asked to record the memorial service for the Pike river miners in Greymouth,
the event was another step in the painful grieving process for the families involved.
As a cameraman my contribution to TVNZ’s coverage was small but captured the thoughts of many who attended the service, as it was broadcast live to the nation on TV, radio and via streaming video. It is now marked in the minds of many New Zealanders, a memory that will stay with many for years.
The open nature of this service was another point of interest…… the man at the local garage mentioned how far New Zealand has grown to share it’s grief so openly and for it to be covered with such dignity by our national media.

Our life is devoted to producing video, it has a special place for many walks of life.

Both Rebecca and Daniel established their company  Inhousefilms limited and “I Do Films” to fill a void in the New Zealand video market ” The I Do films Goal is “To produce a wedding video worth sharing” With our experience of covering stories and events for both TV3 and Tvnz the last ten years has seen us travel to some amazing locations and situations. From the Olympics in Greece seeing Sarah Ulmer win cycling gold, to witnessing a country rebuild after a devastating  natural disaster from the Indonesian  Boxing day tsunami. Or hanging out with the guys and girls at the Australian sea side set of Home and away….but some of the best stories are waiting to be captured here at home too.
Weddings are where everyone is overflowing with passion. Distant friends and family united, dressed to impress and ready to party! These are memories in the making and can be enjoyed for years to come.

The south island has a wide range of wedding videographers the good ones, like wedding venues are booked 12-18 months in advance. But I can honestly say there are only a few that I would recommend. Choosing who captures your wedding on video is like deciding on that main Christmas gift for the special person in your life, when it’s unwrapped you are hopping that any tears….. are tears of joy!

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for the questions worth asking your potential wedding video peeps.

Having the right flowers for your wedding.

On the 20th November we had an amazing collection of Flowers from Sara-lee from A Perfect Day.

I’m no expert on flowers, but I know what I like and what I don’t. Sara-lee you do an amazing job.  Thank-you for showing us some gorgeous colours.

Saturday the 20th November

We have the last show of the Lyttel Bridal Show this Saturday.

This week is all about getting the look.

Hope to see you here.

Your One Day Dress

If you had one day to wear whatever you wanted to wear, what would it be?

One day to have the most amazing dress, one day that there is every excuse for blowing the budget. One day!

There are a number of factors that should come into picking the one day dress.  For example – it should reflect you, your personality, your individuality. So who are you?  What do you like? What do you love? Are you princess perfect or are you reckless carefree? Are you anally organised or do you like craziness?  Do you like rolling hills or the buzz of the city?  Do you like hard metal, classical music, or are you acoustic?

Your one day dress, and you.  Make it superb.

We had a great day at The Lyttel Bridal Show

Saturday just come and went so quickly.  We had a great day.

Louise Anderson had her New Zealand Fashion week dresses for us all to try on. Wow!  There is something said about a having a dress that fits in all the right places, makes you feel glamorous  and want to parade around the room like a queen.  ”yes” me ….. I tried on two stunning dresses.

Jo from The Grand Affair showed us the lastest trends for adding that something special to your wedding recpetion. The attention to detail are inspirational.  I was in awe of the crstyal and tiffany blue setting which would be fit for a wedding with Martha Stewart.

Craig from Lovelight showed us that having a video is not at all corny. His work is outstanding.

White tie ……mmmmmm thank-you for the fudge, “yummy” ,”yummy”.  We got to take some home.  White Tie is simply one of the best caterers in New Zealand.  We were honoured to have Georgie here sharing her expert advice.

Susie and Sarah (ssshhh the secret wedding assassins), had one of the best stands.  I loved their framing and their photographs wow!  True professionals.

And then their was us, Moda Fotografica, Johannes showed of the WIPP award wedding album. We had a number of new photographs printed from weddings this year.

Thank-you to the Brides that got their bridey arses over to Lyttelton.

Coming up this Saturday………… (I’ll leave you in suspense).
